James Michael "Mike" Simpson

James Michael “Mike” Simpson, 61, of Smiths Grove, Kentucky and formally of Bardstown, passed away Tuesday June 6, 2017 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  He was born November 15, 1955 in Lebanon, owner of Simpson Home Improvements, and of the Catholic faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.H. and Emma Simpson; step-father, James Tinnell; two brothers, J.E. Simpson and Rick Simpson; and sister, Doris Ruley.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy Simpson of Smiths Grove; three sons, Alex Simpson of Boise, Idaho, Michael Paul LeClair of California, and Jacob Simpson of Montana; daughter, Darcy (Craig) Robbins of Louisville; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five sisters, Beulah Mae Hardin of Loretto, Cathy (Keith) Gartland, and Rita Peake both of Bardstown, Helen (Eddie) Kappell of Cox’s Creek, and Clara Jean (Lee) Rogers of Balltown; three brothers, Tommy Simpson and Stevie Simpson both of Bardstown, and Freddy (Ginny) Simpson of Shepherdsville; and forty-two nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be 11:00 am Monday June 12, 2017 at Barlow Funeral Home, with cremation to follow.  Deacon Sam Filiatreau will officiate.  Visitation will be 3 to 8 pm Sunday June 11 and 9 to 11 am Monday June 12 at Barlow Funeral Home.
