Stephen Russell "Rusty" Greenwell

Russell “Rusty” Greenwell, 36 of Cox’s Creek passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 at Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital.  He was born April 29, 1985 in Elizabethtown. He worked for Jim Beam’s Distillery, a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, an Army Veteran in which he served in Afghanistan and Iraq and was in the 10th Mountain Division in Ft. Drum, New York, a 2003 Graduate of Bardstown High School, and attended St. Catherine’s College.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert Collins Greenwell and Elizabeth Muriel Bradley Simpson; maternal grandparents, Leroy and Mary Alma Fields; and an aunt, Connie Sidebottom.

He is survived by three children, Collin Russell Greenwell, Ethan Charles Greenwell, Leigha Grace Greenwell; parents, Stephen Collins and Rosemary Greenwell; sister, Sarah (Jeremy) Bottom; niece, Elianna Bottom all of Bardstown; step-grandfather, Joseph Pat Simpson; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.

His funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 4, 2021 at St. Thomas Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Rev. Jason Harris will officiate.  Visitation will be from 3 – 8 P.M. Wednesday, November 3, 2021 and from 9 – 10:15 A.M. Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
