Robert "Bobby" Simpson, 84, of Bardstown, passed away Tuesday April 25, 2023 at his residence. He was born July 6, 1938 in Nelson County, retired from Salt River Electric, past city council member for City of Bardstown, member of Bardstown Rotary Club, Masonic Duvall Lodge # 6, where he was past master, and Bardstown-Nelson County Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame. He was a member and Elder of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Bardstown, and he loved his family and serving his community.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean Herron Simpson; grandson, John Kyle Hutchins; parents, Marchel and Gladys Simpson; two sisters, Connie Werner, and Shirley Simpson Davis; three brothers, Ronnie Simpson, Marshall Irvin "Marty" Simpson, and Kenny Simpson; and niece, Cheryl Simpson Lyvers.
He is survived by his four daughters, Cindy (John) Hutchins, Terri (Pat) Adams, Melinda "Peanut" (Kerry) Monin, and Sonya (Stephen) Boone all of Bardstown; son, Robert "Robbie" (Shelley) Simpson of Fairview, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy (Joey) Wathen; two sister-in-laws, Deanna "Kiki" Simpson Sharpe, and Bonnie Simpson all three of Bardstown; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday April 28, 2023 at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Bardstown, with burial in Bardstown Cemetery. Rev. Jim Summers will officiate. Visitation will be 3 - 8 pm Thursday April 27 and 9 - 10:15 am Friday April 28 at Barlow Funeral Home. A Masonic service will be 7 pm Thursday evening.
