Kelvin Gutierres, 69, of Bardstown, passed away Thursday June 9, 2022 at Kindred Hospital. He was born July 27, 1952 in Hawi, Hawaii. He was a retired First Sergeant in the Army, worked as a mechanic for Joe Hills, a member of American Legion 121, and a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Eric Michael Gutierres, parents, Manuel Gutierres and Rose Ronia; granddaughter, Brittany Bartley; brothers, Gilbert Gutierres and Anthony (Lynn) Gutierres; mother and father-in-law, Harold and Benita Filiatreau; sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Tom Newton; and brother-in-law, Lenny Filiatreau.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Filiatreau Gutierres of Bardstown; two daughters, Cheroly (Mark) Ruiz of Bellbrook, Ohio, and Jennifer Gutierres-Chesser of Bardstown; five grandchildren, Gabby Ruiz, David Ruiz, Grace Ruiz, Michael Ruiz, and Mahayla Chesser; three sisters, Cynthia (Mingo) Amar, Rosemary (Jeff) Yamanoto, and Cilla (Ralph) Galan; sister-in-law, Fay Gutierres; brother and sisters-in-law, Cathy (David) Kerr, Mary Jo (Rick) Meyer, Bob (Lisa) Filiatreau, Roger (Melissa) Filiatreau, Sheila (David) McDonald, and Renee Hopper; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be 11:30 am Monday, June 13, 2022 at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Deacon Steve Heil will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday, June 12, 2022 from 3 till 8 P.M. and Monday, June 13, 2022 from 9 till 11:30 A.M. at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Sunday.
