John Allen Geoghegan Jr., 79, of Bardstown, passed away Sunday February 8, 2026 at his residence. He was born October 30, 1946 in Louisville, retired from Kentucky Liquor and Wine, a St. Joe Prep Alumni, a bass fisherman, he loved animals big and small, and an avid University of Louisville fan and not afraid to tell you. He was a loving husband, father, Papaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a friend to many, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Allen Geoghegan Sr and Jennie Moore Hurst Geoghegan; sister, Joan Conrad; and two brothers, Bill Geoghegan, and Pat Geoghegan.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Charlotte "Charlie" Geoghegan; two daughters, Melissa (Steve) Braden, and Jennifer (Mike) Sanders; goddaughter, Jan McKay all of Bardstown; eight grandchildren, Joseph Mosgrove, Christopher Mosgrove, Jacob Mosgrove, Nathaniel Mosgrove, Zachary Mosgrove, Cheyenne (Chase) Holbert, Daniel (Emily) Holbert, and Garrett Sanders; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald (Leslie) Geoghegan of Louisville, and Bobby Geoghegan of Bardstown; and several nieces and nephews.
His memorial service will be 7:00 pm Wednesday February 11, 2026 at Barlow Funeral Home, with inurnment in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Rev. Terry Bradshaw will officiate. Visitation will be 3 - 7 pm Wednesday February 11, 2026 at Barlow Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may go to Humane Society of Nelson County.
