John Bushell, 57, of Bardstown, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026 at his residence. He was born on May 2, 1968 in Seoul, South Korea. John worked and was also a union member for Fuji Seal, an Army veteran for six years service with the 11th. armor cavalry unit in Operation Desert Storm., he loved to cook for his family and friends, an outdoorsman and hunter, John loved the Atlanta Braves, Dallas Cowboys and Alabama football "Roll Tide". Most of all John was a wonderful husband, father and a friend.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Bushell Sr.; Mother Kyong Grosshans; and his son, River Tyler Bushell.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Bushell, his son, Brady Bushell both of Bardstown; step-dad, Kent Grosshans of Phenix City, Alabama; two sisters, Mary Bushell and Diana Folk; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in Bardstown Cemetery with military honors by the Marion County Veteran Honor Guard. Deacon Steve Heil will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 - 8 P.M. Tuesday, January 20, 2026 and 9 - 11 A.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 5:30 P.M. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may go to the American Cancer Society.
