Jimmy C. "Jim" Allen, 80 of Bardstown, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Norton Brownsboro Hospital. He was born on October 3, 1943 in Mavisdale, Virginia. Jim was an Army Veteran, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge 2408, American Legion Post 121 and a Kentucky Colonel. He worked at Holiday Inn doing maintenance for 19 years, an entrepreneur builder, and a jack of all trades. Jim loved fishing, hunting, a UK Fan and the lake life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Lessie Allen; four brothers, Stanley, Hobert, Harold and Glenn Allen; and three sisters, Dorothy Williams, Margaret Dixon and Mary Isbel.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol R. Allen; four children, Jim (Karen) Allen, Eddie (Natasha) Allen, Angie (Steve) Roller and Carrie Bays all of Bardstown; fifteen grandchildren, Kaylie, Ashley, Michael, Linsey, Brett, Ian, Katie, Selena, Rachel, Jessica, Allison, Gavin, Blake, Holden and Ella; seven great-grandchildren, Abi, Presley, Anse, Caroline, Thomas, Naomi, Harlin; brother, Curtis (Linda) Allen; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Barlow Funeral Home with Deacon Steve Heil officiating. Visitation will be from 4 till 8 P.M. Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Barlow Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contribution may go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
