James "Jim" Boles, 73, of Bardstown, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 1, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. He was born February 15, 1952 in Terre Haute, Indiana. A railroad man since high school, he spent 49 years with the Union Pacific Railroad and RJ Corman Railroad until retirement. He was an avid classic and show car collector. Always ready for another car show or cruise-in, he cherished his time with his fellow enthusiasts and the Whiskey City Cruisers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Marie Boles.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Jane Boles of Bardstown; a daughter, Tonya (Chad) Donoho, of Cox's Creek; a son, Aaron (Kristen) Boles, of Bardstown; seven grandchildren, Mackenzie (Whit) Wiman-Donoho, Nathan (Anna) Donoho, Lily Donoho, Ellery Donoho, Aiden Boles, Andrew Boles, and Alec Boles; siblings, Ron (Suzanne) Boles, Carol (Jan) Stoner, Bernadine Boles, and Debra (Stan) Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
His memorial service will be 6 pm Friday, December 5, 2025 at Barlow Funeral Home with Tom Smith officiating. Visitation will be 3 pm- 6 pm at Barlow Funeral Home, Friday, December 5, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Nelson County.
