Hilary Lee Skaggs

Hilary Lee Skaggs, 83, of New Haven, passed away Saturday November 1, 2025 at Signature Health Care at Colonial.  He was born April 20, 1942 in Grayson County, Kentucky, a member of Wickland Baptist Church, a loving husband, father, papaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother, and a friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gifford and Maggie Skaggs; two brothers, George Skaggs, and Ernest Thomas Skaggs; and sister, Irene Cain.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy Combs Skaggs of New Haven; two sons, Donald (Rhonda) Skaggs of Corydon, Indiana, and Dennis (Marnelli) Skaggs of Bowling Green; two step-daughters, Hannah Kirk of Bowling Green, and Catherine (Nathan) Brummett of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Emily (Tanner) Yates, Jessica (Chris) Houser, Casey (Harrison) Cox, Logan (Hailie) Skaggs, Mattheus Neri, Bethany Skaggs, Ava Brummett, Henry Brummett, and Isaac Brummett; seven great-grandchildren, with two on the way; sister, Emily Cannon of Clarkson, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews; and his loving dog Butler.

His funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday November 6, 2025 at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Cemetery.  Rev. Rodney Lynch will officiate.  Visitation will be 4 - 8 pm Wednesday November 5, 2025 and 9 - 11 am Thursday November 6, 2025 at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to Hospice of Nelson County or Humane Society of Nelson County.
