Hazel Ritchie O'Bryan, 92, of New Haven, passed away Sunday February 23, 2025 at Loretto Motherhouse. She was born September 2, 1932 in Nelson County, retired from Nu-Kote and Nelson County Clerks Office, volunteer for Hospice of Nelson County, member of B. A. H.: Bardstown At Home, and St. Thomas Catholic Church, where she played the church organ for over 70 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen "Hot Taters" O'Bryan; daughter, Virginia Allen Gilpin; baby boy, John O'Bryan; granddaughter, Katie O'Bryan Simpson; two sisters, Lois Hutchins, and Mary Elizabeth Clark; brother, William Earl "Bill" Ritchie Jr.; and son-in-law, Ricky Hardin.
She is survived by her seven children, Elizabeth "Liz" Ann Hardin of Bardstown, Jean Marie (Kenny) Browning of Lebanon, Mary Frances Ray, Joseph Allen O'Bryan Jr., James Keith (Kathy) O'Bryan, Michael Lawrence (Alice) O'Bryan all of Bardstown, and Vincent Paul (Kathy) O'Bryan of Horse Cave, KY; son-in-law, Danny Gilpin of Culvertown; fourteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Thursday February 27, 2025 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Rev. Brandon DeToma will officiate. Visitation will be 3 - 8 pm Wednesday February 26 and 8 - 9:15 am Thursday February 27 at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held Wednesday evening.
Memorial contributions may go to St. Thomas Catholic Church, Masses, or Donor's Favorite Charity.
