Gerald Avis Obituary

Gerald Avis, 83, of Bardstown passed away Monday April 19, 2021 at Baptist Health Hospital Louisville. He was born February 7, 1938 in Bardstown, worked for 40+ years at Barton Distillery, a Kentucky Colonel, and member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.

He was preceded by his parents, Jim and Mary Avis; brothers, Jimmy and Keith Avis; and sisters, Betty Vandiver, Linda Murphy, and Joyce Hauserman.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Inman Avis of Bardstown; two daughters, Joy (Bryan) Boudreault of N. Palm Beach, FL, and Patty (Joe) Hutchins of Bardstown; three sons, Fred (Margaret) Avis of Cox’s Creek, Tony (Sharman) Avis of Elizabethtown, and Greg Avis of Bardstown; twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Murphy of Willisburg, and Dianne Fausak of Henderson S.C.; and brother, Donnie (Linda) Avis of Bardstown.

His funeral mass will be 10 am Saturday April 24, 2021 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Rev. Jason Harris will officiate. Visitation will be 4 pm to 8 pm Friday April 23 at Barlow Funeral Home and 8 am to 9 am Saturday April 24 at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go towards Masses.
