George B. Rizer, 76, of Bardstown, passed away Tuesday December 19, 2023 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born August 6, 1947 in Louisville, a lifelong resident of Bardstown, employed by Rizer Brothers Hardware and Tower Automotive, graduate of St. Joe Prep and Bellarmine University, Army National Guard Veteran, avid golfer, and member of American Legion Post 121, and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George A. "Barney" Rizer, and Mary Catherine Clayton Rizer.
He is survived by his five siblings, Cathy Rizer of Bardstown, Libbie (Alfonso) Casso of Laredo, Texas, Joan Rizer of Bardstown, Jennifer (Mark) Schaefer of St. Louis, Missouri, and William G. (Kelly) Rizer of Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Saturday December 23, 2023 at Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Rev. Terry Bradshaw will officiate. Visitation will be 3 - 8 pm Friday December 22 and 9 - 10:15 am Saturday December 23 at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service will be 5 pm Friday evening.
Memorial contributions may go to National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
