Gay Ferrill Allen, 91, of Bardstown, passed away Thursday May 15, 2025 at Hometown Manor Assistant Living. She was born November 8, 1933 in Buffalo, Kentucky to the late Guy Ferrill and Mildred Ferrill Briggs.
Gay spent her childhood along a creek in Buffalo, Kentucky with three brothers and one sister. She was always proud to be from Larue County and her Scott/Ferrill family there. She spent her married life and raised her children in Botland and Bardstown.
Gay spent her work life with Bardstown City Schools and was a charter member of Parkway Baptist Church. If you knew Gay, it was likely through music. She sang in church, choirs, community choirs, and many weddings and funerals in the area over her lifetime. Her last few years were spent at Hometown Manor in Bardstown, where she enjoyed many friendships among the residents and wonderful staff there. Even in her last days, whenever there was music, you could find her singing there.
Gay was preceded in death by her husband, Jack R. Allen and her son, Michael Allen.
She leaves behind her two daughters, Ramona Allen, and Robin (Mark) Thompson; son, Jack "Jay" (Lisa) Allen Jr.; five grandchildren, Grant (Macie) Thompson, Trey (Sara) Allen, Lori (Nathan) Petrie, Jessica (Kyle) McGrath, and Patrick (Krista) Thompson; Gay had the pleasure to meet her five great-grandchildren, Jack Thompson, Nora Allen, McKenna Thompson, Millie McGrath, and Cooper McGrath; and several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
