Edward Hovan, 79, of Bardstown, passed away Friday, May 15, 2026, and his wife Christine V. Hovan, 71, of Bardstown passed away Monday, May 25, 2026, due to an automotive accident.
Ed was born September 26, 1946 in Plainfield, New Jersey. Christine was born September 19, 1954 at Ft. Meade, Maryland.
They were both heavily involved in the Nelson County, Bardstown community, where they were well known and loved for their acts of kindness and service. They were members of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Chris was a part of the Archdiocese of Louisville, and a Colonel on the Staff of the Governor of KY Honorable Order of the KY Colonels.
Ed was preceded in death by his son, Michael James Hovan; and brother, Richard Hovan.
They are survived by Ed's son, Edward Hovan Jr.; and Chris' sister, Kathy Duym; niece, Erin Duym; nephew, Jon (Daniele) Duym; and many beloved friends.
Their Funeral Mass will be 11 am Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Rev. Terry Brandshaw will officiate, and The Very Rev. J. Randall Hubbard will co-celebrate. Visitation will be 4 pm to 7 pm Tuesday June 9 at Barlow Funeral Home, and 10 to 11 am Wednesday at Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral.
Memorial contributions may be made to Nelson County Humane Society and/or Bread of Life Community Food Pantry.
