Doris Jean Ranschaert Burgin, 87, of the St. Joseph, Louisville, neighborhood, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at her daughters residence in Bardstown. She was born October 7, 1937 in Jefferson County.
She loved her neighborhood, and being at home cooking and taking care of everything. She enjoyed crocheting, being at the pool, and loved her dog.
She was preceded by her husband, Walter W. Burgin; son, Walter W. Burgin Jr.; parents, John and Eleanor Ranschaert; and brothers and sisters, Charles Edward Ranscheart, John "Billy" William Ranschaert, Linda Kay Halberg, Wanda Lee Lawrence, and James Ranschaert.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah K. Simmons of Bardstown; five grandchildren, Walter W. (Chris) Burgin III, Curtis Burgin, Johnathan Burgin, Nathan (Jessica) Simmons, and Matthew (Samantha) Simmons; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Sue Ann (Dana) Vessels; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be 11 am Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in Highland Memory Gardens. Pastor Neal Gordon will officiate. Visitation will be 3 pm to 8 pm Friday December 27 and 9 am to 11 am Saturday December 28 at Barlow Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Nelson County.
