Brenda Johnson Coomes

Brenda Johnson Coomes, 75, of Bardstown, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at U of L Hospital. 

She was born May 25, 1949 in Nelson County. Brenda loved her cats, playing bingo, watching birds, and being outside in the sun. She was a caregiver to her family, very compassionate and generous, and wanted to help as many as she could. Most of all she loved her family fiercely. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James "Bill" and Catherine Leona Johnson; and brothers, Howard Johnson, Lawrence Johnson, James E. "Junior" Johnson, and Robert Johnson.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Donald Coomes of Bardstown; two daughters, Donna (Mike) Lichtefeld and Chasity (Joe) Crepps both of Bardstown; three grandchildren, Brandon Moss, Haleigh Crepps, and Cameron Crepps; great-granddaughter, Madalynn Moss; brothers, Dennis Johnson and Gene Henchey; sisters, Doris Robertson, Patricia Johnson, and Mary Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. 

Her funeral service will be 12 pm Monday, January 20, 2025 at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 am to 12 pm Monday January 20 at Barlow Funeral Home.
