Bobbie Ruth “Boo” Welch, 65, of Bardstown, passed away Sunday November 23, 2025, Bobbie was born December 18, 1959, in Elmira, NY, to Ronald and Joan Sayer VanDeventer.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved spouse, Brian Welch; two brothers, John and Michael VanDeventer; and two sisters, Marjorie and Melissa. She is survived by her children: James Kintz (Karissa) of Bardstown, KY; Kimberly Henry (Darrell) of Florida; Danielle Dwyer (Thomas) of Lexington, KY; and Shaun MacIntyre of Bardstown, KY. She was a proud grandmother to Megan, Stevie, Maddie, Anthony, Dominik, Jackson, Oliver, Alex, Aja, Wren, Theodore, and Sophie, and a great-grandmother to Elliot. Bobbie also leaves behind her siblings: Patsy Lyons (Kent) of Winston-Salem, NC; David VanDeventer (Christy) of Bardstown, KY; Michele Coalson of Clemmons, NC; and Ron VanDeventer (Patricia) of Archdale, NC.
Bobbie’s career began as a manager at Payless Shoe Store, where she later transferred to Elizabethtown. After leaving Payless, she joined Thompson’s Convenient Store, where she found a wonderful work family and remained for over 10 years before retiring. After a brief return to New York, Bobbie came back to Bardstown in late 2023 to be closer to her loved ones.
She enjoyed crocheting, playing games, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. In 2024, Bobbie recommitted her life to Christ and was baptized again, desiring for her family to know and depend on Him as well.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to her brother, David, whom Bobbie adored, for his loving care during her later years.
A private graveside will be held at a later date at Bardstown Cemetery.
