When Adam Kersey Prewitt took his last breath of life in this world on December 31st 2021, he was holding our Lord’s right hand as he entered the gates of heaven. Adam was born February 10th, 1985. He was born the biggest out of three boys with a man’s brow line. His nurse told his mother he would grow into a strong man, and that he did. Adam had a love for tractors and all things farming. He farmed with his brothers and his dad who was his best friend. His beloved hobby was pulling tractors and he was a third generation tractor puller. His grandfather Hansford Prewitt Sr. started this love back in the late sixties with one of the first twin engine, rail style hot rods. Adam laid his hobby aside when he became a father in September 2016. He was so proud of his beautiful Stella Rose.
Adam is survived by his wife Sara Burgin Prewitt, his beloved daughter Stella Rose Prewitt, his father and mother Hansford (Hank) Prewitt Jr. and JoAnn Knopp Prewitt, his brother Corey (Katie) Prewitt of Morgantown, Matthew (Cindy) Prewitt of Cox’s Creek, his nieces Scarlett, Peyton and Autumn Prewitt; Uncles Gary (Theresa) Knopp, Mike (Brenda) Knopp, Rickie (Theresa Prewitt), and Aunt Charlotte (Bootie) Downs.
He was preceded in death by both paternal and maternal grandparents: Hansford Prewitt Sr. and Stella Shouse Prewitt, Bernard Knopp and Josephine Manning Knopp; and uncle Jackie Dale “Luke” Prewitt. Adam will be remembered as a devoted husband, dad, son, brother and friend. He had an infectious giggle, a beautiful smile and was a storyteller. He loved people and lending a helping hand.
His funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday January 5, 2022 at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery in Bloomfield. Pastor Gary Chesser will officiate. Visitation will be 2 - 8 pm Tuesday and 9 - 11 am Wednesday at Barlow Funeral Home.
