"A.J." Andrew James Hayen, 17, of Cox's Creek, passed away Friday, August 30, 2024. He was born on January 14, 2007.
A.J. loved baseball, he was a Thomas Nelson High School varsity baseball pitcher and player since 8th grade and played travel baseball for many years. He was always hanging out with his friends, but if he wasn't, you could find him laying in the front porch swing. He never met a stranger, and loved to sing. He spent many summers in New Smyrna, Florida with friends from all over the country.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joseph Lawrence Ruley; paternal grandfather, Robert Hayen; uncle, Matthew Hayen; and cousin, Shannon Ballard Pinkston.
He is survived by his parents, Jamie and Kim Hayen; sisters, Abby Hayen, all of Cox's Creek, and Ashley "Sissy" Blanford, of Bardstown; paternal grandmother, Linda Hayen, of Crestwood; maternal grandmother, Martha Ruley, of Cox's Creek; niece and nephews, Tyler Healey, Madison Edelen, and Brayden Edelen, all of Bardstown; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
His funeral service will be 3 pm Saturday September 7, 2024 at Thomas Nelson High School Auditorium. Rev. Kirby Rust will officiate. Visitation will be 6 pm- 8 pm Friday September 6, 2024 and 10 am - 2:45 pm Saturday September 7, 2024 at Thomas Nelson High School Gymnasium.
Memorial Donations will go towards a Scholarship in A.J.'s name to help other students.
