William J. Manby III, 83, of Cox’s Creek, passed away Monday June 4, 2018 at University of Louisville Hospital. He was born July 4, 1934 in Houston, Texas, communications officer for Disaster Services of Louisville, graduate of University of Southern Mississippi, retired from Army as a Lt. Colonel, Jr. R.O.T.C. program Leader at Eastern High School, member of Sons of American Revolution, 4H Shooting instructor in Bullitt County, and a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William J. Manby II and Mary Louise Eubank Manby; and brother, Thomas E. Manby.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mae Rita Manby of Cox’s Creek; two daughters, Elizabeth L. (Dan) Duncan of Louisville, and Rita Marie (Steve) Holzknecht of Bardstown; four grandchildren, Amanda (Ross) Gamble, James Holzknecht, Zackary Holzknecht, and Nicholas Holzknecht; brother, John F. Manby of Vicksburg, Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be 10:00 am Friday June 8, 2018 at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in Valley of Rest Cemetery in LaGrange. Rev. Rodney Lynch will officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm Thursday June 7 and 8 to 10 am Friday June 8 at Barlow Funeral Home.
