Wendell Cornett

Wendell Cornett, 79, of Bardstown, passed away Wednesday January 10, 2018 at his residence.  He was born December 25, 1938 in Perry County, Kentucky, a master mason, owner of Wendell’s Music Shop, bluegrass musician, United States Air Force Veteran, and of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bev and Hattie Cornett; brother, Gayle Cornett; and sister, Cleda Watts.

He is survived by six children, Cindy (Donald) Walker of Elizabethtown, David (Linda) Brown of Louisville, Wendy (Wayne) Dial of Elizabethtown, Denise (“Cockey”) Carey, and Brenda (Dr. Bill) Hagan both of Bardstown, and Aaron Cornett of Clarksville, Tennessee; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bradis “Toots” Maggard of Georgetown, and Zuela Hay of Louisville; and two brothers, Neal Cornett and Vanzell Cornett both of Bardstown.

His memorial service will be Noon Saturday January 13, 2018 at Barlow Funeral Home.  Pastor Gary Chesser will officiate.  Visitation will be 3 to 8 pm Friday January 12 and 10 am to Noon Saturday January 13 at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to donor’s favorite charity or church.
