John Thomas “J.T.” Fulkerson Jr., 58, of Cox’s Creek, passed away Friday December 14, 2018 at U of L Hospital. He was born August 16, 1960 in Nelson County, retired Sergeant from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Department, former Patrolman for the Bardstown Police Department, and Community Service Deputy for Nelson County Jail. He enjoyed farming, racing, and truck pulling, was a singer and songwriter for Common Creek, and a member of New Salem Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Logan Thomas Fulkerson; father, John Thomas “J.T.” Fulkerson Sr.; paternal grandparents, Emmett and Catherine Fulkerson; and maternal grandparents, Leslie and Pearl Moomey.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Tammy Hardin Fulkerson; daughter, Kimberly Dawn (Kory) Chasteen; son, John Thomas “Trey” Fulkerson III all of Cox’s Creek; mother, Doris Moomey Fulkerson; brother, Bill (Vickie) Houk; three sisters, Kathy Danner, Luann (Howard) Summers all of Bardstown, and Johnna (Pete) Pettyjohn of Versailles; special cousins, who were like his brothers, Russell Fulkerson, Emmett “Clem” Karr, Willie Fulkerson, Marlin Robinson, and brother-in-law, Deputy Jerry Hardin; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be 11:00 am Tuesday December 18, 2018 at New Salem Baptist Church, with burial in New Salem Baptist Cemetery. Pastor Jonathan Gann will officiate. Visitation will be 3 – 8 pm Monday December 17 and 9 – 10:15 am Tuesday December 18 at Barlow Funeral Home.
