Inath Frances Blakeman Cornish, 99, of Bardstown, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 25, 2018, looking forward to seeing her Lord and Savior, surrounded by family and much love. She was born and raised in Shelby and Anderson County, a graduate of Kavanaugh High School in Lawrenceburg, Ky., an avid quilter, gardener and reader. She was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church where she served many years, but loved most teaching her ladies Sunday School Class up until she was in her 90’s. She did missionary work through the Church of Eastern, Ky. And New York City. She was a former employee of My Old Kentucky Home State Park and Behr’s Department Store and was an active member of Nelson County Homemakers for many years. Her most treasured times were spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and being a humble servant of the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hughley Cornish of 61 years; parents, George and Bertha Ruble Blakeman; brothers and sisters, Jasper Blakeman, Kenneth Blakeman, Thelma Cornish, Nina Blakeman, Alpha Harley, and George Blakeman Jr.; and two sons, Donald and Michael.
She is survived by her five children, Ralph (Kitty) Cornish, Gerald (Shirley) Cornish, Nancy (Don) Cook, Larry (Patricia) Cornish, and Peggy (Steve) Mather; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends who she loved dearly, Jean Crume, and Betty Jo Ranschaert.
Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm Sunday October 28, 2018 at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in Highview Cemetery in Chaplin. Brother Danny Haynes will officiate. Visitation will be 3 – 8 pm Saturday October 27 and Noon - 2 pm Sunday at Barlow Funeral Home.
