Francis J. Dixon Jr., 86, of Nazareth Village, Ky, died Sunday, May 6, 2018. He was born January 23, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA. He was an Army Veteran from 1955, to 1958, when he received an honorable discharge. As a devout Catholic, Francis was devoted to his faith, beloved family, and many friends. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 1954 from St. Vincent College, PA, a JD (Law Degree) in 1961 from Fordham University, NY, and an LLM (Advanced Law Degree) in 1969 from New York University, NY. He practiced law in NYC, specializing in the representation of insurance companies. After retiring, Francis enjoyed helping others through many volunteer activities and living in the beautiful retirement community of Nazareth Village, KY.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol J. Dixon, who passed away eight years ago.
Francis is survived by five sons, Francis Dixon III, Mike Dixon(Yvette), Stephen Dixon(Leisha), Chris Dixon(Ann), and Nathan Dixon(Trish), as well as by one daughter, Anne Van Dyke.
Francis is also survived by eight grandchildren: Samantha Dixon, Bianca and Stephen Dixon, Chanel and Luke Van Dyke, and Troy, Jack, and Danny Dixon.
In addition, Francis is survived by his brother, William B. Dixon, and William’s wife, Kay; by his sister, Kathleen Walters; and by many nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at St. Andrews Church, 120 Washington Av., Westwood, NJ. A repast will follow the funeral service at approximately 12:00 pm, at the Pavilion, Alpine Boat Basin, Alpine, NJ. Francis will be remembered in the liturgy on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Nazareth Village, 65 Village Dr., Nazareth, KY.
