Fern Marie Parrish Geoghegan, 98, of Boston, passed away Monday December 24, 2018 at Windsor Gardens. She was born October 14, 1920 in Boston on a farm and she and her husband enjoyed farming their entire life. Fern and her husband John Hollan Geoghegan II, owned a Roller Skating Rink in Elizabethtown, where they both were accomplished roller skaters. Fern and her husband also owned and managed the Woodlawn Store for many years. She was an avid quilter, enjoyed ceramics, dancing, gardening, homemaker activities, and was devoted to her family. She was a member of Boston Community Center, and Boston Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Hollan" Geoghegan II; son, John "Johnny" Hollan Geoghegan III; daughter, Judith Lynn Geoghegan Richardson Jett; parents, Thomas and Lillie Parrish; brother, Thomas Weller Parrish; and sister, Erman Parrish McClaskey.
She is survived by her son, Terry L. Geoghegan of Bardstown; two grandchildren, Wade F. “Trey” Richardson III, and Hollyn Marie (Rob Karlen) Richardson both of Louisville; great-granddaughter, Lily-Jane Karlen; and eight step-great-grandchildren, Nolan, Simon, Stella, Abbi, Nora Kate, George, Sturgill, and Micah Jett; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday December 29, 2018 at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in Bardstown Cemetery. Chaplain Terry Troutman will officiate. Visitation will be 3 – 8 pm Friday December 28 and 9 – 11 am Saturday December 29 at Barlow Funeral Home.
