Elizabeth Helen Downs

Elizabeth Helen Downs, 94, of Bardstown, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family Thursday June 22, 2017.  She was born January 6, 1923 in Nelson County, a homemaker, member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and loved her faith and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Downs; son, Thomas Randall “T.R.” Downs; infant son, Charles Russell Downs; parents, Robert Russell and Lanie Hutchins Greenwell; three brothers, Collins Greenwell, Marvin Greenwell, and Donnie Greenwell; and two sisters, Hester Greenwell, and Lorean Bartley.

She is survived by six sons, Kenny Downs, Herbie (Janie) Downs, Billy (Gail) Downs, Gary (Phyllis) Downs all of Bardstown, Todd (Donna) Downs of Loretto, and Joe (Lisa) Downs of Bardstown; five daughters, Fay (Joe) Hagan of Loretto, Joyce (Bobby) Peake of Bardstown, Sue (Bill) Adams of Willisburg, Debbie (Bo) Watts of Bardstown, and Marie (Gerald) Osborne of Lebanon; daughter-in-law, Elaine Kelty of Loretto; brother, Happy Greenwell of Bardstown; four sisters, Valinda Pettit of Bardstown, Sister Delores Greenwell of Nazareth, Lavon Cecil of Howardstown, and Ann Hall of New Haven; Twenty-eight grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Monday June 26, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery.  Rev. Chris Lubecke will officiate.  Visitation will be 2 to 8 pm Sunday June 25 and 8 to 9:15 am Monday June 26 at Barlow Funeral Home.  A prayer service will be 3 pm Sunday.

Memorial contributions may go to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
