Eleanor H. Downs

Eleanor H. Downs, 101, of Bardstown, passed away Tuesday October 3, 2017 at Bardstown Health and Rehab.  She was born February 11, 1916 in Fairfield, a self-employed farmer, a Bardstown, Culvertown, and Cox’s Creek Senior Citizens member, and a member of Bardstown Homemakers Club, and Bardstown Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Tyler Downs; two daughters, Jenelle Maines, and Joann Downs; son, Lloyd Downs; parents, Simon and Grace Humphrey; two sisters, Thelma Crabb, and Alton Downs; and four brothers, Virgil Humphrey, Clarence Humphrey, Leland Humphrey, and Simon Humphrey.

She is survived by her daughter, Rose Marie (Bobby) Ditto; two sons, Glenn (Sue) Downs both of Bardstown, and Tyler Downs of Cynthiana; fourteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday October 6, 2017 at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Dr. Randal Pollock will officiate.  Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm Thursday October 5 and 9 to 11 am Friday October 6 at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to Bardstown Baptist Church.
