Welcome to the memorial page for

David (Dave) Joseph Bade

May 9, 1938 ~ September 17, 2017 (age 79) 79 Years Old

David (Dave) Joseph Bade, age 79, of Bardstown, Kentucky, passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones on September 17, 2017.  He was born on May 9, 1938 in Elmhurst, Illinois. Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Vera Bade.   He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Sharon Maurine Bade; 5 children, Kathleen Bade of Minneapolis, MN, Kristin (Frank) Voltarel of Wheaton IL, Lisa (Kevin) Cornish of Sellersburg, IN, Susan (Suki) Bade Brown of Bardstown, KY, and Christopher Bade of Bardstown, KY; two brothers, John (Bobbie) Bade of Eagle CO, Dick (Joanne) Bade of Elmhurst, IL; seven grandchildren, Bailey (John) Clayton of Louisville, Madeleine Cornish of Sellersburg, IN, Ryan Berzins of Bigfork, MN, Olivia Cornish of Louisville, KY,  Payton Brown of Bardstown, KY, Claire Voltarel of Wheaton, IL, Reese Brown of Bardstown, KY, and Jillian Cornish and 6 great grandchildren.

He graduated from St. Norbert College where he was an active member of the R.O.T.C.  He spent his career as a salesman.  As such, his job moved him and his young family to many states.  His last move became his final destination as there is no doubt that this enchanting little town in Kentucky is where he and his wife were meant to live out the rest of their life.  This city boy and his city wife fell in love with the Bluegrass state and much to the chagrin of their city kids, began to listen to country music, insisted their kids call them “sir” and “ma’am” and eventually bought a farm where Dave learned to become a farmer, which he loved more than anything.  He raised Angus cows, Golden Retrievers, learned to drive a tractor and enjoyed every day he had to work on the farm.

As a young man, Dave was a member of the National Guard.  Dave was actively involved with the St. Joseph Boy Scout Troop 147 and the Order of the Arrow for many years.  He was also involved with the Nelson County 4-H and Pony clubs.

Dave is known for his charming personality, generous nature, great sense of humor as he had a joke for every situation.  He loved fishing, golfing, watching the Chicago Blackhawks and the Cubies.  He had the gift of song and spent many years as a member of the West Towns Barbershop Chorus in Illinois, The Louisville Thoroughbred Chorus, appeared in several plays and enjoyed singing at mass.

We thank our Heavenly Father for the life of Dave Bade.  He was cherished as an incredible husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is finally at peace. He will be missed.

His Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Basilica of St. Joseph Proto Cathedral.  Rev. Terry Bradshaw will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Friday, September 22, 2017  at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
