Catherine Eugene Lewis Hughes, 84, of Bardstown, passed away Monday August 27, 2018 at Landmark of Bardstown. She was born May 28, 1934 in Bardstown, and worked for Nazareth for 33 years as a nurse’s aide and a cook. She was a member of St. Peter Claver, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Eastern Star Queen of Nelson #87, Daughter of Isis, a KY colonel, and a member of St. Monica Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Alvin Hughes; grandsons, Jaylin Tongue, Jaden Tongue; parents, Albert Clark Lewis and Elizabeth Lewis; sister, Anne Evans; and brother, Albert Lewis.
She is survived by seven children, Kitty Hughes of Bardstown, Brenda Lee Hughes of Elizabethtown, Joseph Ernest Hughes Jr. of Bardstown, Timothy Clark Hughes Sr. of Louisville, Anthony Rockford Hughes of Bardstown, Christopher Stephen (Yolanda) Hughes of Toronto, Canada, Gabriella Hughes (Phillip) House of Louisville; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Lewis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Thursday August 30, 2018 at St. Monica Catholic Church, with burial in Lebanon National Cemetery. Rev. Jason Harris will officiate. Visitation will be 2 - 7 pm Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Barlow Funeral Home.
