William L. “Bill” Coomes, 91, of Bardstown, passed away Saturday October 28, 2017 at his residence. He was born February 19, 1926 in Louisville, retired trade sales director for National Paint-Varnish & Lacquer Association, United States Marine Veteran of WW II, and a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ann Coomes; two brothers, Jim Coomes, and Bryan J. Coomes; and two sisters, Margaret Ann Kapfhammer, and Virginia Heeb.
He is survived by his son Thomas L. (Donna) Coomes of Lake Park, Georgia; three grandchildren, Tracey Dodson, Tom G. Coomes, and Christopher Coomes; six great-grandchildren, Dylan, Lana, Mitchell, Maria, Codi, and Cheyanne; three brothers, Kenney Coomes of Lagrange, Vincent Coomes of Cincinnati, and Michael Coomes of Shepherdsville; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be 10 am Monday November 6, 2017 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Rev. Jason Harris will officiate. Visitation will be 2 to 5 pm Sunday November 5 and 8 to 9:15 am Monday November 6 at Barlow Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may go to St. Vincent Depaul Mission Store or St. Thomas Catholic Church.
