Theodore Downs

Theodore Downs, 89, of Bardstown, passed away Thursday June 15, 2017 at Colonial Health and Rehab.  He was born September 29, 1927 in Nelson County, retired from Jim Beam Distillery, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Wallace and Luella Downs; ten brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elsie Diemer Downs of Bardstown; four daughters, Anne (Doug) Helm of Louisville, Linda (Jimmie Dell) Moran, and Mary Pat (Mickey) Greer both of Bardstown, and Kelly (Jeff) Bentley of Louisville; son, Tommy (Patsy) Downs; brother, Billy (Wanda) Downs both of Bardstown; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Saturday June 17, 2017 at Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Rev. Terry Bradshaw will officiate.  Visitation will be 3 to 8 pm Friday June 16 and 8 to 9:15 am Saturday June 17 at Barlow Funeral Home.  A prayer service will be 7 pm Friday.

Memorial contributions may go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
