May 22, 1921 ~ September 3, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old

John Call 96, a resident of the Cedar Creek Community, died Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Flaget Memorial Hospital.  He was born May 22, 1921 in Washington County.  A member of The First Cedar Creek Baptist Church, a retired farmer, retired employee of Jim Beam Distillery, an U.S. Army World War II Veteran.  He served his country in Alaska, helped build the Alaska Highway, a barber and military police.

 

He is preceded in death by a son, Dr. J. Larry Call; grandson, Mason Daniel Call; parents, Miller and Martha Call; brother, Marvin Call; sisters, Plumie Call and Christine Call White; son-in-law, Victor J. Stansbury.

 

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Iva Lee Call; daughter, Joan Call Stansbury; sons, David Call and Ron (Linda) Call; special relative, Jimmie Stamper; grandchildren, Michael Call, Dwayne Call, Neysa Call, Vickie Stansbury Thompson, Chris Stansbury, Jon Stansbury, Lance Call, Lyndsey Call, Taylor Nalley, Tyler Nalley, Jacob Call, and Clayton Call; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles (Buck) Call; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

 

His funeral service will be 11:00 am Friday, September 8, 2017 at The First Cedar Creek Baptist Church with burial in The First Cedar Creek Baptist Cemetery. Bro. Tim Lucas will officiate and Chaplin Terry Troutman will assist. Visitation will be 3 to 8 pm Thursday and 8 to 10:15 am Friday at Barlow Funeral Home.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to The First Cedar Creek Baptist Church or to the Marion County Veteran Honor Guard.
