J.L. Ritchie

J.L. Ritchie, 78, of Bardstown, passed away Sunday July 16, 2017 at Audubon Hospital in Louisville.  He was born June 17, 1939 in Nelson County, a retired supervisor for Nelson County School Bus Garage, a member of Mud-Dobber’s Four Wheeler Club, lifetime member of Bardstown Baptist Church, where he was an usher, trustee, and served in many other church capacities.  He enjoyed his mornings at Tom Pig’s Restaurant, and helping at Coulter’s Towing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Elsie Ritchie; and sister, Joanie Wathen.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jennie Ritchie; three daughters, Sandy (Gary) Coulter, Sherry Leake all of Bardstown, and Tina (Donnie) Hornback of Buffalo, KY.; two grandchildren, Lance (Kelli) Coulter, and April Leake; sister, Lois Hardeman; two brothers, Skeeter Ritchie both of Bardstown, and Jack Ritchie of Florida; several nieces and nephews; and his dog companion, Bentley.

His funeral service will be 11:00 am Thursday July 20, 2017 at Bardstown Baptist Church, with burial in Bardstown Cemetery.  Dr. Randal Pollock will officiate.  Visitation will be 3 to 8 pm Wednesday July 19 and 9 to 10:15 am Thursday July 20 at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to Gideon’s International or Bardstown Baptist Church Building Fund.
